Once you have left the bustle of Wollongong behind, there is a town where the South Coast really begins.

A town that feels old. 1850’s Irish dairy farmers built stone walls to keep the cows from wandering and make sure they felt right at home in the great southland. The heritage protected walls haven’t moved, and they still speak of that history.

A century of hard labour of the workers carving a living out of the rock quarries, basalt blue metal that literally built Sydney – the harbour, the workers sheds, the lighthouse, the cobbles. They give this town a sense of place and time unlike anywhere else on the south coast. Retirees have loved it for decades for that reason, so you know the shopping and eating is top shelf.

The entire stretch of coast is watched over by Saddleback Mountain, a sleeping rainforest giant with many arms reaching to the sea the rolling hills and valleys mean views for days.

Want a more spacious surf beach? Jones Beach Kiama Downs is amazing, with family friendly surf club and great waves. Want death defying surf? The break known as Boneyards once dislocated the knee bone of the author (not kidding).

Hungry? Of course you are you Hungry Monkey (Link), or maybe you prefer Penny Whistler’s (link) or Silica (Link) or any one of a dozen more… all good. Its not just nutrients here though:  Fashion and coastal home decor, Local Primary and High-school, Leisure Centre (Link) with heated indoor lap pool, Supermarkets, mean the town has more than enough for permanent residents craving city convenience without the travel.

To cope with such sustained popularity easy living units abound in the CBD if you want walk to everything (including the beach) convenience. Who wants to maintain a yard? Who even needs the car this week? This Month?

Family homes in the suburban surrounds of every type for those with a budget.  For those without, the volcanic geography means many short beaches with headland homes that take in massive ocean views studying the waves and storms and sunshine. Suburbs on the fringe of Kiama include Kiama Downs, Bombo and Minnamurra.

Have we mentioned the walking? The Kiama coast walk (Link) is so good you could do a different section every other day for years and not regret it. No doubt a place where healthy living can become a habit.

Researching Homes for sale in Kiama? Here are a few recent sales and client purchases from the area:

Kind words from a recent client who purchased a renovated home in Bombo with panoramic ocean views…

“Buying our family home outside of Sydney proved to be much more difficult than we anticipated. Once we involved the services provided by Precium, the entire process became easier and we have now bought a house we love.

Matt’s knowledge of the property market is really impressive as is his understanding of a property’s potential. We found his insight valuable when assessing a potential home and he quickly recognised what would be most important to us.

Matt worked efficiently and saved us countless hours of additional work involved in purchasing a property. It was also great to have someone on our side when dealing with multiple real estates and valuations.

We would definitely recommend Precium to potential buyers.”
