MOLLYMOOK REAL ESTATE
Mollymook is the quintessential beachside holiday location.
World class swimming, surfing and beach are popular attractions in summer months each year. Majestic beach homes with sweeping views from Bannister Head fetch premium prices although there are still affordable homes if you are in the know. Real estate Mollymook is all about lifestyle. Being able to walk the esplanade, ride into town on a pushbike, surf at dawn, or enjoy a coffee at one of the cafes.
Mollymook is located three hours’ drive south of Sydney and is tightly held by those who love to reside there permanently and also families who hold weekenders to escape the Sydney rush.
Would you believe Mollymook was once a mining town? According to Wikipedia “Silica mining operations were commenced on Mollymook’s southern headland by the Illawarra brick company prior to 1920 and brought an influx of workers to the quarries. Bannister Headland at the northern end of Mollymook beach was the site of a silica crushing facility and loading jetty in the early 20th Century. In 1924, a tramway was constructed across Narrawallee Inlet to transport silica from mining leases near Conjola for preparation and shipping. The industry declined during World War II. During the 1990s, many of Mollymook’s older homes began to be redeveloped with medium density apartments and resort style hotels. Like much of the south coast, the town is popular with retirees”
What is lesser know is the many young families who are relocating to the area drawn by lifestyle, good schools and a safe environment to raise children combined with better work/life balance for the parents. Council estimates show population is predicted to grow by a massive 64% in the next 2 decades, meaning significant growth of the local real estate market is inevitable.
